About Me

I grew up in a house full of dogs.  My parents ran a dog rescue, so we often had foster dogs staying with us and even had the pleasure of hand rearing puppies.  My love of dogs began and I started formally working with animals about 25 years ago.  Initially I gained some experience in a grooming salon, vets and kennels before deciding that grooming was what I did best and enjoyed most.

I trained in a working grooming salon, covering many breeds and trims.  I moved on to manage a salon, then took the step of opening my own salon, which I’m proud to say was very successful and had a long list of regular customers.  I took a career break when the lease ended on my salon, but couldn't stay away for too long so started Grooming by Tracey in 2011.  The business is going from strength to strength and I am enjoying the advantages of working one-on-one with the dogs - the calm and friendly environment is beneficial for dogs and owners, and I have time to finish each dog to a high standard.

In June 2012 I won the "Animology Groomer of the Month" competition, for which I received a lovely framed certificate and rosette which I proudly display on my wall.  I also won the 'Animology International Groomer of the Month' for March 2013. I continue to further my grooming knowledge and skills by attending seminars, demonstrations and competitions.  There is always something new to learn and we have many wonderful people in our trade who are willing to share their experience!

BusterOutside of grooming, I am owned by Buster, a boxer x border collie, who keeps me fit (he loves his walks and we canicross together) and feeds my interest in dog training and behaviour (he knows many useless but very cute tricks).
